Still Leben Ruhrschnellweg. one highway. 60 km on a sunday are closed for cars, given to the people. and guess what? a huge traffic jam. just with bikes instead of cars. 3 000 000 people. all managed it being part of a peacefull event adressed to all ages. amazed to see and experience how a highway became a social urban space. went there in the afternoon. skated from Duisburg to Essen. had the whole highway for my own. lying on the Überholspur. rare occasion. flashed me.
don't be surprised - just don't underestimate what space, the meaning and the access to it, is doing to you and us.
